This is Kaitlyn, she was born on August 27th, at 11:11 pm. She was 4 lbs. and 11 oz and 19 inches long. She cam 8 weeks early because I had a syndrome called HELLP, so they had to induce me and now she is here. We are glad to have her as part of our family, even though it doesn't really feel like it yet. She is in the NICU. We can't wait to have her home!

It's been awhile

The above picture is when (uncle) Brandt came over for a visit. He took Kasen outside in his sunglasses we bought him.

On Saturday we went to the Spanish Fork parade with some of my family and my sister-in-law's family. Afterwards my mom and I went to the booths and my dad and Koy took Kasen on the rides. My dad bought all the tickets for him to go on the rides. It was a lot of fun. Then later in the evening we went to my friend, Audrey's; and had a BBQ with her and her husband and little boy. Then lit off some fireworks. Kasen is getting so big. He is 18 months now and goes to nursery. He thinks he is so big in the way he walks and tries to show us so many things, like pointing to the stove and his high chair. He is also on a kick on trying to throw as many things in the toilet as he can try to get away with.

So, as you all know very well, I am bad at updating. Kasen is growing like crazy! He has 5 teeth all the way in and 3 coming in that are half way here. Our little family has been really sick the last couple of days. But wanted to let you know that we are all alive and well, for the most part and will be updating soon. Hopefully.

I am really bad about blogging, but I can't take the whole blame on this matter. I haven't had my computer working for awhile...

Kasen was crying and usually when he cries we pull out the camera and he will smile but not this time, he was hysterical and didn't even notice we took a picture.

These are all of Kasen's cousins except for one (We haven't seen one of my nieces since she was 3) Spencer, Tiffany, Dylan, Treven, and Taylor. Kasen is in there too!
Instead of paying $20-40 for pictures of Kasen with Santa at the mall, I took Kasen and did it myself, not as high quality but it does the job.
Kasen just loves his bath, and hates it when he gets out. I loved (LOVE) this picture and wanted to share with you!
I put Kasen down for his naps during the day and sometimes he will fall asleep right away other times he will just play. Well, this is one of those times. It is really cute because he will hold onto the crib and just jump. I haven't been able to catch it on film yet but someday I hope too.

Well, my little guy is growing up. I love waking up in the morning (I lied, I hate getting up in the morning but since I have to...) and hearing Kasen talking to himself and making his little squeals and giggles. It is amazing to me to see him grow and learn new things. He just loves his daddy, grandma, and me. He crawls all over the place and has begun to clap his hands. He can turn on and off the light switch. He smiles almost all of the time. He tries so hard to communicate, by gurgling or squealing or even just different sounds all of the time. Even in his sleep! He hates to be confined to his high chair or car seat. He will be 1 in less than a month and half. I can't believe how time flys.

So you all should know by now that I am very bad at keeping you all "interested" in our little crazy lives of the Kelander family! So I will now present you with an overkill of what we do....

Finished!

The picture just does not do it's justice in how beautiful it really isI don't know if any of you remember that dresser that Koy and my mom were working on last year when I was pregnant, it was quite a few posts back; well anyways this year with my mom and my aunt Diane helping it got finished! It is so gorgoeus and better yet it is done! (Thanks for the help!)

Transformation

As you can see this was a chrysalis and transformed into a beautiful butterfly! A husband and wife in my ward catch butterflies and then kill them and display them. They don't just catch them but they get them as caterpillars and watch them turn into butterflies. They gave me the opportunity to watch this little miracle happen. It was one of the coolest things ever!

On Labor Day; Koy, Kasen and I went with my mom and dad; Brandt and Whitney to Thanksgiving Point in Lehi for their annual Luau. W e pretty much stayed for the dinner and the beginning quarter of the show. Kasen got a horsey ride from dad and gave me lots of kisses and he had to ham it up for the camera! He loves to get his picture taken.

A Quarter of a Century

Now I am old! Koy informed me on my birthday that I am a quarter of a century now. How does this make me feel? OLD! But at least I am not 30!...yet....I am sorry I never took pictures but I can tell you what we did. My mom came up and watched Kasen. So off we went to play; we went to lunch at Tucano's. I dragged Koy to several stores to find an outfit. I got a pair of jeans and a a cute hooded sweater-type-deal- thingamjig. My mom and dad got me a bigger crockpot, a bullentin board thing that I picked out a few months ago, and some big aluminum cookie sheets. We came home and put Kasen to bed and watched a movie called Yes Man, very funny movie. ( I cried from laughing so hard!) Yeah, it was a great birthday! Then on Sunday, my brother Brandt, mom and dad, and grandma and grandpa came over for cake and icecream.

Sleeping....
Kasen slept last night from 9 pm to 7 am. Even though I still checked on him what seemed like a million times... It was the most amazing thing ever. How I did this you might wonder or ask? I read a recommeded book from a friend called On Becoming Baby Wise. It was hard at first but the results in the end are phenomenal! I thought it was great that I can train Kasen to do this at 5 months because the book actually says that you can begin on day one. I hope that Kasen continues this wonderful sleeping time!

Over the weekend we went to my nephew's and neices' dance festival and silly me I forgot to take pictures! The OC's tournament games in Payson were on Saturday. Unfortunately they lost all their games...Here are some pictures of Brandt and Seth up to bat. On Sunday we went to church and up to Koy's grandpa's for dinner. Yesterday we went to a friend's house for a BBQ, again I forgot to take pictures until I got home where I snapped this one of Kasen in his new outfit!

Is he really teething? Drooling, check. (Does he ever!) Gum sensitivity, check. Fussiness, check. (But that is what he is 80% of the time...) Biting Behavior, check. (He tries to play with nipple of the bottle, quite funny really.) Refusing food, not quite a check. (More or less plays with food again see above comment) Sleep problems, again not quite a check because he is an on and off again good sleeper. When I checked his gumline on the top you can see outlines of his new teeth to be. He must be!

Kasen's Baby Blessing

Kasen received his baby blessing yesterday. Afterwards Koy's family and mine ate a light lunch and was able to chat with one another. Koy gave such an amazing blessing.

I am so grateful that he (Koy) holds the Melchizedek Priesthood and was able to do that for Kasen. Thanks everyone for coming and that brought a salad! It was a great turnout.

Surprise!

I threw Koy a surprise birthday party at my neighbor's apartment with some friends from the ward. I asked Koy to take me to a store and then on the way home I told him that we had to stop at Matt and Megan's because I wanted to show him their shelves that Matt had made for their laundry room. Koy didn't really want to but he did just to make me happy. He knocked on the door and when Matt answered the door everyone yelled surprise and Koy not knowing that the "surprise " was for him said surprise back. :) I laughed and told him that it was for him. He was pretty shocked. Thanks Megan for letting us do it there and making such a wonderful sheet cake! All the friends that came thanks for showing how much you care about Koy!

For Koy's birthday I took him to Ruby River, while my mom came up and watched Kasen for us. It was fun just to be the two of us for a little while, but we missed Kasen too! The steak that Koy had was almost as good as what he can grill he said, notice the word ALMOST!

This is Kasen when we went to go see my neice when she was born. She was born on March 31st. When I went to go see her the nurse at the check in desk asked me how old Kasen was, I told her 3 months. She said that since he was still small I had to put this sticker on him so that the cameras could see it so they wouldn't think I was baby-napping!

I meant to publish this post awhile ago, but anyhow... My friend Audrey made this really cute onesie with a little tie so that he can wear it to church. He looked so sharp, like his daddy and ready to go to church and I had just taken this picture when Koy said you should probably change his butt first. I thought good idea, we have 5 minutes till church begins. As I was getting the new diaper ready, Kasen began to cry. I found out quickly why, he was peeing all over himself.... Moral of this story, leave yourself more than 5 minutes if you are going somewhere and enough time for accidents like this!

1- Where were you when you first found out that you were pregnant?
When I suspected I was at work, the actual test was done at home with Koy crossing his fingers and hoping that I was.

2-Who was with you?
Koy was outside the bathroom door, I told him I didn't want him watching me pee on a stick.

3-How did you find out you were pregnant?
I was talking to a girl at my work about how my sides were hurting a little bit and that it wasn't my period and a few other related pregnancy symptoms. She told me that I should take a test to find out. I didn't want to take the test but Koy told me I should, just in case. Indeed, the test confirmed I was!

4-What was your first reaction to finding out you were pregnant?
Uh.... are you sure that two lines means that you are pregnant and not meaning double negative for you are NOT pregnant?

5-Who was the first person that you told?
Koy, who else?

6-Was everybody happy for you?
I sure would like to think so, but the most happy were Koy and Seth. Happy does not even scratch the surface for these two on how esctatic they were!

7-Did you go out and celebrate?
I don't believe we did....

8-Did you get morning sickness?
Morning sickness? Try all day and into the night sickness, I was miserable!!!! (It was worth it!)

9-Did you want to find out the sex?
Is that even a question? Like I told people if there is technology to find that out then yes I am going to find out!

10-What was the sex?
Boy!!! (What I wanted) My mom and Koy thought it would be a girl so when they found out it was a boy they were kind of shocked... the ultrasound guy said if we really wanted a girl it could be a girl with a kickstand! No thanks!

11-Did anyone throw you a baby shower?
Yes, three of them were done. My friend and neighbor Megan, Koy's aunts, and my cousin Chelsea. Again thankyou all for doing that... speaking of I need to send out my thankyou cards!

12-How much weight did you gain?
Gain? I lost weight...

13-Did you lose all the wight you gained?
More like gaining what I lost!

14-Did you get alot of stretch marks?
I wouldn't say alot but I did get them!

15-What did you crave the most?
Nothing really, :(

16-Did you crave anything crazy?
I wish....

17-Who or what got on your nerves the most?
Bobby, my old supervisor from work!!!! Argh!

Yes!

19-Did you have any complications during pregnancy?
No, not really.

At my mom's hair appointment in the beginning, then at the hospital.

At the hospital and I didn't even get to feel it!!!!

Koy, my hero!

23-Did you go early or late?
Early, he came almost two weeks early!

24-Who was in the room with you when you gave birth?
Koy, the doctor, and two nurses.

25-Was it video taped?
The actual birth, no! But afterwards yes!

26-Did you have any drugs for the pain?
Yeah, I wasn't about to do it naturally!

27-Did you go natural or c-section?
Natural.

28-If natural how long did you puch?
Labor was 4 hours and he was out in two pushes!

29-What was your first reaction after giving birth?
He has a cone head? He is here! He is mine, my little boy!

30-How big was the baby?
Kasen was 6 lbs and 8 oz.

31-Did your husband cry?
I don't know! I think he was close to crying.

32-What did you name the baby?

33-Did the baby have any complications?
No, thank goodness!

34-How old is your baby today?
6 weeks and three days.

35-When is the next one coming?

I would like you all to meet Kasen. He was born on January 6th at 8:32 pm. As of now, he weighs 6 lbs and 8 oz. He is 20 and 3/4 inches long. He has light brown hair. He looks so much like his daddy except for his lips. This is my favorite picture of him at this time, just because he looks like a little frog. Isn't he adorable? I think so because I am his mommy and you all have to say yes because you needed to confirm what I think! Ha, ha!!! Well, more updates later...

So many of my friends and family have asked me to post a picture of my pregnant belly, I have always laughed at them for asking and have said no. As you can see I finally gave in at 36 weeks! Enjoy!

A Little Story...

Last year at on Christmas Eve; my dad, Koy and I had went to bed while my mom and brothers stayed up to watch a movie. When the movie ended my mom had gone upstairs to go to bed when my dad told her" next year will be better." My mom not knowing that my dad was asleep asked him "why next year would be better." He told her "Next year Christmas would be better because Koy and Kristen would have a baby." My mom then kind of got upset and said "Norm, we will have grandkids when they are ready not because we want them to." The next thing thing that was heard was my dad mumbling something and then some snoring. That is when my mom realized that my dad was talking in his sleep! We all got a good laugh over that one the next morning. Our laughs must have been the last laugh so to speak... Why did I just share this story? Well, I went to the see the doctor on Tuesday (the 16th) and he told me that I was dialated to a 2 and that I was efaced to 30%. Kasen is on his way! Koy has been saying that he will come on the 27th which happens to be our oldest nephew, Spencer's birthday. I think that Kasen will still come in January sometime. Does anyone else have their opinions? or guesses to when our little man will show?

My Baby Shower...

I have this wonderful friend and neighbor (Megan) that threw me a wonderful baby shower for people in the ward, some friends from work and my mom came up too! These are just some of the many pictures that were taken. To be honest I was a little nervous about the whole thing, it was more of being in the spot light and the center of attention which I don't really like being unless I want to be. Megan had sent around these really cute invites and had these really nice refreshments. I want to publicly announce how grateful, I am for her friendship and throwing me such a beautiful baby shower, THANKS MEGAN!!!! For all you readers of this blog a little FYI, Megan is the niece of Dr. Tipton who is the doctor that will be delivering Kasen. Kinda cool huh?

Busy... Busy

These two hard workers are my husband Koy and my mom. My mom saw this amazing dresser at yard sale for $10, and called me and asked me if I would like to have it as the baby dresser and the top part of it I could use as a changing table. I was so excited, I said yes thinking that maybe I can work on it, by stripping the paint, sanding it down and staining it the color I wanted. Things don't always work out the way that you want them to...meaning I am stuck watching them get to do what I wanted to do because I am pregnant! Koy tells me that he would have much rather bought me a new dresser than to be roped into doing this! My mom and me keep telling him it is all worth it when you are done. I just wish I could be a part of this project besides being pregnant with Kasen and talking to them while they are working on it. I just wanted them both to know how muc I appreciate them both for working so hard on it. It will be so beautiful when it is complete! I love you both so much, thanks a million you guys!

The CrAzY Pitch

This is kind of hard to explain, so I am going to attempt to try. Brandt explained to us that he knew some kind of pitches that he was going to try at the softball tournament, I thought they were really funny. I tried to take some picture of one that I liked to call the Windmill. What it is really called I have no idea... but anyhow Seth demonstrated. What the pitch is you are moving your arm in a windmill like position and you let go of the ball while still going thru the motion of a windmill, to make it look like you never even pitched the ball! Halloween St. George Tournament....

Koy and I drove down with my mom and dad in October to go to the annual Halloween tournament. I forgot to take my camera with me to the games, so unfortunately I don't have pictures of them (the OC) playing, however I do have these pictures. The one above is of Brandt and Seth.

I had alot of people asking me what I was for our ward Halloween party... For those of you that don't know, in my ward I have two callings, one being on the activities committee with Koy and some other couples, two I am one of the visting teacher supervisors. Now with that said I was the Visting Teaching Supervisor Grim Reaper, I wore signs, on the front it told you what I was and then on the back it said Do you your visting teaching or I will come for you... It was a great idea, I thought because I could incorporate both of my callings and have some fun with it!

Koi Fish

There is a girl at my work named Holly that is pregnant too and is having a little boy too. She has decided to name her boy Linkin Koi as of right now. She liked Koy's name... but that is not the only reason, her boyfriend wanted a Koi tattoo. A Koi is a japanese fish and the picture above is what one looks like. Also on the subject of fish there is another girl here at work, that when ever she sees me she asks how my little fish (Kasen) is doing, because I once told her that it feels like Kasen has been flopping around like a fish out of the water! I just love how he moves around so much because then I know that he is alive. I get so nervous when he doesn't move as much...

I think I would travel.

I have two current callings... 1 is chair person on Activities Committee, 2 is Visiting Teaching Supervisor. Both are really challenging but fun, well sometimes!

I appreciate so many things that Koy does I can't just name one... I guess I really appreciate how patient he is with me. ( I know that is not always easy!!!!)

Well, I have never been tagged, so if I sound strange, then I guess you will all know...

1. I have to put my socks on before I put on my pants.

2. I wear socks to bed no matter how hot it is.

3. I prefer men's tube socks to women's socks. (What is with me and all the sock issues?)

4. I eat Snickers candy bar only if it has been melted in the microwave first and with a fork!

5. I keep on smelling things that smell bad, when I know they smell bad. I seem to have to do this a couple of times or more depending on how bad it smells!!! ( I hope that makes sense.)

6. I don't like runny shakes, warm sodas, and warm water etc etc!
